The Hive is a response to the growing disconnect from nature more and more children experience. This affects not only their wellbeing but their ability to care for the natural world and how they apply the skills they develop as they grow up to the environmental challenges we all face.
Set up in 2014, we’re a social enterprise helping children connect with nature through immersive adventures and projects. Our unique approach supports children as they explore, create, problem- solve and collaborate in the outdoors. We are members of the Forest School Association and the Institute of Outdoor Learning.
We’ve partnered with the Stave Hill Ecology Park team since 2018 to run our Forest School training courses and are now building on this partnership to open a small Forest School nursery in the park.
The nursery is due to open in September 2024 and to operate 2 days per week between 9am and 3.30pm, on Mondays and Tuesdays. We will welcome 12 children between the ages of 2 and 5 and will be open 45 weeks per year, closing during February half-term (1 week), Easter (1 week), Summer (2 weeks), October half-term (1 week) and Christmas (2 weeks). The address is Stave Hill Ecology Park, London SE16 6AX.
We are a Living Wage and Equal Opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of their sex, race, age, disability, religious beliefs, political opinions, sexual orientation or gender identity. We’re also a pending B Corp certified company.
