Missions for teens aged 11-13 are designed to nurture initiative, collaborative learning and decision-making by engaging students in authentic projects.

They are encouraged to form their own perspectives and given the freedom to pursue their ideas. Working on real scenarios and based in the outdoors allows teens to stretch their problem-solving skills and practice self-management. These missions are challenging, not just exciting!

Missions for children aged 5.5 – 8 prioritise imagination and learning through make-believe.

They are rooted in story-telling and immersive, with children given agency to control the narrative. They feature a broad range of nature skills and are designed to nurture team-working skills. Technology (iPads) is used to enhance the story by adding interactivity, augmented reality and suspense!

Missions for children aged 8-11 combine critical thinking with creativity and lots of learning through doing.

They are project-based and introduce more complex nature skills in bushcraft, wild cooking, outdoor building, arts and Earth sciences. The focus is on problem-solving and collaborating to achieve! Learning to use professional tools is also a key part of all missions for this age group. Technology (iPads) is there to enhance the project-based approach.

NEW CAMP! St Paul's School is located on 45 acres of beautiful green open space on the banks of the River Thames in Barnes. The campus is unique amongst London schools for the on-site facilities it offers and its extensive grounds overlooking the Thames. The school also has a wonderful dedicated Forest School area, which The Hive has exclusive access to. In addition to this unique outdoor space, The Hive has also access to a large modern sports pavilion in case of bad weather.

Blackheath Prep is a independent school in South East London looking over the beautiful heathland in Blackheath. The fire-acre site offers superb specialist facilities, and plenty of outdoor space including large playgrounds, forest school areas, plenty of trees, natural spaces to explore, wildlife and a 2.5 acre playing field.  The school is based around a Grade II Georgian manor house, and The Hive has exclusive use of the grounds and selected indoor spaces.

These missions are designed like mini-adventures with a focus on bushcraft and nature skills, gamified challenges and  survival technology. They're progressive too, allowing children to build on their skills. They are perfect for children who enjoy solving problems, challenging themselves and learning through games. 

Would you enjoy shooting an outdoor adventure film like a pro? What about creating a giant Trail Exhibition? Or perform on stage in the woods? Supported by practising artists, you'll need plenty of stamina and tons of ideas!

These missions are designed like mini professional projects where children get the chance to work with practising visual artists in a playful and nurturing environment. From brief to completion, they are challenged and supported for a real sense of achievement and pride!

These missions are truly hands-on! Baking on the fire, foraging, cooking like a wild chef, growing delicious food, creating amazing potions or learning to keep bees, these adventures are not for the faint hearted!

These missions are designed like workshops with a focus on discovery, experiential learning and lots of opportunities to explore new skills! They are perfect for children who love wildlife, getting their hands dirty and being creative in nature. 

Can you imagine building your own Go Kart and racing it or designing and making a proper lair for you and your friends to chill in?  What about inventing and engineering your own flying machine? Or creating a proper Fun Fair yourself?

The Hive's Makers Lab makes all this possible. Bringing together design, architecture, engineering and construction skills, these missions are perfect for children who just love being in the workshop, dreaming up structures, building and tinkering. These missions are designed like real professional projects and are ideal for older children. From engineers to designers, architects to wood workers, children get the chance to work with true professionals in a challenging but nurturing environment.

One of the 'Great Nine' schools of England, in a superb natural setting, with over 250 acres of lakes and woodland. The school is set in a beautiful Art Deco building surrounded by playing fields, gardens and trees, as well as plenty of open space to roam and explore! Do you love tech and science? Testing hypotheses? Conducting experiments? Building prototypes? In these missions, you're going to use science, electronics and digital technology to explore, understand and protect our planet.

These stem-based missions are designed like professional experiments. They draw on science and digital technology skills mixed with practical outdoor skills applied to nature challenges. They all have a subtle and exciting focus on sustainability.

We may be Agents, Time travellers, Spies, Treasure hunters, Detectives, Wizards. One thing is for sure: we cannot fail in our mission!

There are Explorers to be rescued, Pirates to track down, a witch in a pickle  who needs help, Stag Beetles and Bats who are disappearing, Eradicons to fight.... We'll have to overcome challenges, solve clues, learn new skills and maybe even survive in the wild! These missions are designed like digital stories, but live and outdoors! they are immersive with all the ingredients that make a great tale: a brilliant narrative, strong characters, technology, suspense, team work, lots of making and a bit of competition.

The cost of the Forest School Leader (level 3) training course is £934.
The cost of the Forest School Assistant (level 2) training course is £578.

All our Forest School training courses are accredited by AIM Qualifications & Assessment Group.

2. You can pay in up to 4 instalments to help you spread the cost of the training. If you'd like to pay in instalments, just email team@thehive-kids.com and we'll set this up for you.
3. If you receive childcare vouchers, you are able to use them to pay for your course. Just call us to pay this way.
