On this five-day mission, you’ll learn all about knives – how they're made, how to use them expertly and how to look after them.
The mission will combine three great bushcraft projects: first you will get to whittle your very own camping knife and spoon out of wood. You’ll learn how to use a whittling knife skilfully, the different cutting techniques and the steps towards creating a really cool tool! Once you’ve completed your first project, you’ll then get to make a sheath out of leather for your kit, so you can carry it around safely on your belt. You'll finish by learning and applying more challenging freestyle techniques to wand whittling, culminating in an exciting spellcasting competition
Do you know what a fid is? What about a groover? A rowel wheel? You better join us to find out… Throughout the five days, as you develop your projects, your creativity will be fuelled by hot chocolate made in the Kelly kettles! In true Hive tradition, the mission will conclude with a celebration around the fire.
