The year is 205 AD and we’re building up to the most important festival of the Roman calendar, the festival of Vulcan. Held every year to appease the god of fire, the festival is packed with games, decorations, dancing, and a HUGE feast to celebrate this important and fearsome god…and you’re invited!
Unfortunately, like most gods, Vulcan’s reputation is pretty temperamental, so appeasing him is not always easy. During the week, your mission will be to do whatever it takes to win Vulcan over and reach the heart of the Labyrinth where a feast awaits you - the more successfully you play, the more delicious food you’ll have to feast on!
You’ll use cosplay to bring the Labyrinth video game to life and transform into a Roman character of your choice. Develop an entirely unique persona and make a personalised pallium (a fancy Roman cloak!) to wear on your immersive journey. You’ll work with your fellow teammates to decide which way the game will go and choose how to overcome different obstacles. Each day will bring new challenges and opportunities to appease the gods so you can progress to the next level. Can you impress Diana with your hunting skills? Will you win Ceres over to gain her very handy help? And which mythical creature will you choose to face: the dangerous centaurs, or the fearsome gorgons - just one look could be fatal! There’ll be riddles to solve, treasures to scavenge for, and crafts to make as each day you journey deeper into the Labyrinth. Learn to navigate your way (blindfolded!) through a maze, avoid disturbing a lethal sleeping giant, and prove your devotion to Vulcan by embossing metal talismans. You’ll also discover the art of Roman theatre as you finish each day by creating your own drama, and to make sure you look the part, you’ll also be making your own Roman theatre mask.
At the end of the week, Vulcan will favour you with a bounteous reward and you’ll get to enjoy a feast fit for the gods, but be sure to play your cards right, otherwise you could be lumped with a plate of mealworms…to share!
Discover a world like no other as you spin your own Roman tale in a quest to please the gods. Are you up to the challenge? Pick your character, choose your path, and let the games begin!
