Our post-training CPD Refresher Days are open to Forest School practitioners looking to further their practical skills or who feel they would benefit from a little confidence boost. You do not have to have completed your initial training at The Hive to join the course.
The "Whittling & Tools" CPD Refresher Day focuses on woodcraft and building your confidence with the full range of tools and techniques used at Forest School. The course is designed to help you consolidate the skills you gained during your initial training, as well as introduce you to more complex projects to challenge yourself and the children you support at Forest School.
Our "Whittling & Tools" CPD Refresher Day is a one-day course running from 9am to 4pm.
The day will start with a brief review of your level of confidence with tools to make sure the day is shaped around your needs.
In the morning, the first session will focus on helping you consolidate existing skills. We will go over key tools, safety processes and simpler techniques by working on several small projects. The second session will cover introducing different timbers and discussing which woods to use for which projects.
In the afternoon, the third session will introduce you to new tools and techniques, which you will get to practice by working on a more complex individual project. The final session of the day will focus on facilitation and exploring ways to lead more challenging tool projects safely with children at Forest School.

Our post-training Forest School Refresher Days cost £160 per person. This covers the training day, full access to Stave Hill Ecology Park, refreshments throughout the day, and access to one follow-up Q&A session via Zoom.
