A complex teen mission bringing together challenging bushcraft skills and an introduction to weapons engineering with a dose of open fire cooking!
You’ll have only 5 days to design and make an arsenal of weapons for your team, mixing medieval bushcraft skills and modern engineering – in your own outdoor camp. The projects have been designed to stretch your skills! No simple whittling here…
The Hive takes its educational purpose very seriously. Whilst we don’t promote the use of weapons, we do see the benefit of maker and bushcraft projects that truly enthuse young people. We thought long and hard about proposing a mission focused on weaponry and felt that ultimately the nature of the projects proposed meant that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. To provide context and avoid anything gratuitous, we set the projects in a “building” rather than a “fighting” context and gave the mission a fantasy angle.
