Taster Sessions

The Hive's approach focuses on innovative ways to engage pupils in Forest School in more urban environments where access to outdoor space is constrained.

Our Taster Sessions are designed to give participants a taste of the richness and creativity of Forest School learning, particularly in more urban settings. They offer an opportunity to meet your trainer, explore our training venue  and get a better understanding of what Forest School training entails.

They are open to teachers, trainee teachers, NQTs, nursery teams, youth workers, parents and anyone wanting to find out more about Forest School and/or considering embarking on Forest School Assistant or Leader training.

How The Sessions Run

The sessions offer an opportunity to meet your trainer, explore our training venue  and get a better understanding of what Forest School training entails. The day is split into 4 sessions:

  1. An introduction to the ethos and principles behind Forest School, as well as the scope of our training courses
  2. A chance to try your hand at some of the practical skills: fire lighting, den building, hand tools
  3. A short outdoor lunch cooked over the fire
  4. An opportunity to have a go at Forest School woodland crafts

Timings

All sessions run from 10am to 2pm
