How would you like to invent your own story? What would it be about? Goblins? Wizards? Superheroes? Best friends? What if you could step into your story for real? With this mission, you can go as wild as you like… you can build amazing dens, go on quests, light fires, and make your own adventures into amazing stories!
Rooted in play and using den building as a catalyst for story writing, Into the Woods is designed to nurture confidence in outdoor skills, and creative writing. As the dens grow, the characters and stories develop. Using iPads, den building materials, games, props hidden in the grounds, and camp fires for stimulus and group bonding, the children will create a story they can be truly proud of. On the final day, the mission will conclude with a short performance for parents!
The children’s stories will be produced using the award-winning Book Creator app. A true multimedia app, it allows the children to use their own photos, text, drawings, audio (including their own voice), and video. At the end of the mission, everyone will be sent their story.

RECOMMENDED AGE RANGE
5 1/2 - 8 (Years 1 - 4). Please note that this is only a recommendation. In our experience, stories and adventures really engage children up to around 8. Every child is different however and you know your child best! If you are unsure and would like to talk through with us, please free to call or email the team. We'll be very happy to advise.
FACILITATION
Our Lead Facilitators tend to be practising Primary School Teachers, supported by Outdoor Practitioners and Drama Professionals. Parents always receive a full list of facilitators a week or so before the start of camp. We operate an overall ratio of between 1:8 and 1:10 in our camps. All facilitators are DBS and reference checked; all undergo The Hive in-house safeguarding training. Sites include fully qualified First Aiders.
MISSION DURATION
Five-day mission with the flexibility to book 2, 3 or 5 days.
DAILY TIMES
The mission runs from 9.30am to 4pm.
Extended care is also available from 8.30am to 6pm - an additional charge applies.
END OF MISSION SHOWCASE
All Hive missions finish with an exhibition, showcase or performance for parents. The format depends on each particular mission. We usually ask parents to arrive between 15 and 30 minutes early to get the most out of the showcases.
