IMPORTANT NOTICE: ELTHAM COLLEGE HAS DIFFERENT HOLIDAY DATES TO ALL OTHER LOCAL SCHOOLS IN FEBRUARY 2019, SO EXCEPTIONALLY THE HIVE WILL BE RUNNING AT BLACKHEATH HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS GROUNDS THIS FEBRUARY ONLY. THE ADDRESS IS KIDBROOKE GROVE, LONDON SE3 0LG. IT IS A 10 MINUTE DRIVE FROM ELTHAM COLLEGE. 

Mission Synopsis

This mission is an advanced bushcraft mission for teens who are looking to further their Hunter Gatherer skills. The projects are demanding and will stretch campers who are eager to channel their inner Ray Mears! Over 5 days, you will be taught how to master eight complex bushcraft skills by completing some pretty exciting challenges.
1. Carving your own bow drill
2. Building a hut
3. Starting a fire with primitive flint and steel
4. Making an atlatl launcher and arrows for your team
5. Weaving your own paracord project
6. Learning all about fish ponassing
7. Making your own slingshot
8. Crafting a survival whistle

A CHALLENGING TAKE ON BUSHCRAFT WHICH WILL SUIT TEENS WHO HAVE SOME SURVIVAL EXPERIENCE AND ARE LOOKING TO FURTHER THEIR SKILLS

Daily Itinerary

The itinerary for this mission is more fluid than other Hive missions, as it is led by the group who will decide which of the 8 projects they'd like to do in which order.

TYPE OF MISSION
Bushcraft

RECOMMENDED AGE RANGE
11 - 13 (Years 7 - 8). This mission is only open to children who have completed Year 6 and are ready to start senior school. Unfortunately we're not able to welcome younger children.


FACILITATION
Both Lead and Support Facilitators on this type of mission are Bushcraft Professionals with Forest School experience. Parents always receive a full list of facilitators a week of so before the start of camp. We operate an overall ratio of 1:8 in our camps. All facilitators are DBS and reference checked; all undergo The Hive in-house safeguarding training. Sites include several fully qualified First Aiders.

MISSION DURATION 
Five day mission with the flexibility to book as little as 2 days or as much as 5 days. If you are only booking 2 days, we suggest choosing the beginning of the week to help the children truly experience the developing project. 

DAILY TIMES
The mission runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Extended care is also available from 8.30am to 6pm - an additional charge applies.

END OF MISSION SHOWCASE
All Hive missions finish with an exhibition, showcase or performance for parents.The format depends on each particular mission. We usually ask parents to arrive between 15 and 30 minutes early to get the most out of the showcases.

PRICES
Prices for this mission start at £125 per child for 2 days. The price decreases as more days are booked. We also offer sibling, multi-week and group discounts. Please click here to see our price list.


HIVE T-SHIRT
One free Hive T-Shirt is given to each child on this mission. Replacements will be charged for at a rate of £8 per T-shirt.
