ARE YOU READY TO CREATE THE FUTURE?

In 2019, easyJet’s battery-powered aircraft prototype will take to the skies for the first time...

Mission Synopsis

Only recently, Elon Musk’s Boring Company “Loop Track”, a futuristic underground hyperloop for zero emission vehicles, carried out its first demonstration. Already, Microsoft’s AI for Earth is using artificial intelligence to help save snow leopards.

Some of these prototypes will turn into reality. Others will remain in the realm of Sci-Fi. That’s what innovation is all about!

This mission is slightly different from usual Hive missions. It’s about using the power of your imagination, your skills and knowledge to create a Start-Up that could help Planet Earth.

Over 5 days, you will start a business – a Science & Tech business. You’ll have to get your head around capital investment, angels, rapid prototyping, writing a business plan, pitching an idea, branding, leadership… and making money!

The mission will start with an exploration of the problem you’d like to solve. The next step is ideation and prototyping: the process of taking an idea that is in your head and turning it into something that exists in the real world. The final step is strategy: figuring out how to get your idea into the hands of the people who want it and how to create a successful business around it.

This mission will be delivered in partnership with Young Enterprise and will conclude with an opportunity for the teams to pitch their start-ups to a real-life entrepreneur.

WHILST DIFFERENT FROM OUR MORE TRADITIONAL HANDS-ON PROGRAMMES, IN A WAY THIS MISSION IS WHAT THE HIVE IS ALL ABOUT: EQUIPPING KIDS WITH THE THINKING AND INNOVATION SKILLS THEY NEED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THE PLANET:)
