On this adventure filmmaking mission, you’ll discover how to shoot and edit an adventure movie, while mastering filmmaking and special effects techniques.
You’ll develop a story idea with your production team, then turn that concept into a script and a shot-by-shot storyboard. You’ll get to experience the different roles involved in making an adventure movie: director, presenter, camera operator, producer, special effects technician and editor. You’ll discover creative camera angles and unique shots, then edit your original footage to create a professional adventure film.
At the end of the course, the films will be uploaded onto The Hive’s private Youtube channel to share with friends and family.
Please note that due to Covid-19 restrictions, The Hive is currently only running full-week missions.

TYPE OF MISSION
Creative Outdoors
RECOMMENDED AGE RANGE
8 - 11 (Years 4 - 6). Because of the nature of this mission and the specific skills and activities involved, it is only suitable for children 8 or older. FACILITATION
Both Lead and Support Facilitators on this type of mission are Practising Film Makers with experience of delivering arts-led projects with children in the outdoors. Parents always receive a full list of facilitators a week of so before the start of camp. We operate an overall ratio of 1:8 in our camps. All facilitators are DBS and reference checked; all undergo The Hive in-house safeguarding training. Sites include several fully qualified First Aiders.
MISSION DURATION
This is a four day mission.
DAILY TIMES
The mission runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Extended care is also available from 8.30am to 6pm - an additional charge applies.
END OF MISSION SHOWCASE
All Hive missions finish with an exhibition, showcase or performance for parents.The format depends on each particular mission. We usually ask parents to arrive between 15 and 30 minutes early to get the most out of the showcases.
